The LWOP/FUEL residents at your facility propose a collaborative charitable walk-a-thon to benefit children at Shriner’s Hospital of Northern California. This rehabilitative initiative offers incarcerated individuals a meaningful opportunity to give back to society through community service, demonstrating personal growth and commitment to restorative and trauma-informed corrections values.
Scheduled for October 8, 2025, this second annual event will be conducted in partnership with Valley State Prison’s 2nd Chance 2 Society Wellness Group and supported by the Anti-Violence Safety and Accountability Project (ASAP), Storyline Media Group, LLC., The Davis Vanguard, IAM Consulting, MackLab’s, Rising Beyond The Bullet, and Families United to End Life Without (FUEL). A parallel walkathon program and community EXPO will be held at the California State Capitol in Sacramento to extend the event’s positive impact and public visibility.
The walk-a-thon will directly benefit the children served by Shriner’s Hospital of Northern California, a leading pediatric healthcare facility specializing in life-saving treatment for children with critical medical conditions. Shriner’s commitment to providing care regardless of families’ ability to pay makes it an ideal beneficiary for this initiative.
