William Holmes

THIS IS MY STORY

My name is William Zeke Holmes and I’m 43 years old. I’ve been incarcerated for 20 years. When I was 22 years old I made the senseless choice to rob
and murder Hakeem Bryant and Christopher Martin. Subsequently I was sentenced to (2) Life w/o the Possibility of Parole (2) 25-to-Life terms.

These 20 years of incarceration have been ajourney of rehabilitation and transformation. It has entailed reflecting and gaining insight. Insight into how a youth whose mother served 27 years in the U.S. Army and father was a professional photographer, found himself locked-up for these heinous crimes. Today I understand who I was and why I did what I did.
Upon my incarceration I became a Christian. Began reading the bible daily and Attending church, developing spiritual principles. I began changing the way I thought. Self-help groups helped me quit using drugs and stop criminal thinking plus behavior.

My time has been used to obtain my G.E.D., high school diploma and “AA” degree in Social and Behavior Sciences. I’m attending bible college for theology. During my own transformation I began facilitating groups, mentoring and preaching during church service. Currently I’m a certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor working in the Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment center on the prison grounds as an OMCP mentor.
Today I value the lives of others, in addition to my own life! I value community, education and family. My intrinsic motivations are honesty, integrity and character. My ultimate goal is to become a productive member of society as a free man. I’ve begun this process by helping men return to society rehabilitated, while serving Life w/o the Possibility of Parole.
There’s not a single day that goes by in which I don’t regret the crimes I committed with every fiber of my being. I live my life today as a testament to my remorse for killing Hakeem Bryant and Christopher Martin.
I seek support, mentorship and resources to achieve an opportunity for a youth offender parole hearing. If you are reading this letter, I sincerely appreciate your time and willingness to hear my story.
