MICHELLE TRAN

Michelle Tran, mother of 3. I am the wife of Thai Tran who has been serving an LWOP sentence in our California Prison System since the age of 19. In 1997 Thai was sentenced to LIFE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY. He has been incarcerated for 25 years now. In 2018 I became actively involved in advocating, wanting to find out what I could do and how we could end this horrible in-humane sentence. I relocated with our son in March of 2020 from Kansas to California to be able to advocate more and be more physically active in this movement. Moving during a pandemic and being unable to see my husband really made me more aware of just what isolation was like. And having someone not being able to ever prove to the world that they have put in the work and focused on rehabilitation is true ISOLATION from ever seeing a future and that is utterly wrong on all levels. And that is exactly why we must push and educate to end the sentence of DEATH BY INCARCERATION. I have volunteered with the DROPLWOP/CCWP and FUEL organization, and graduated the Bakersfield Initiate Justice cohort. I became the chair for FUEL- Families Unite to End LWOP in 2020, and Thai is an inside organizer for FUEL at Avenal State Prison. Let END DEATH BY INCARCERATION
